Joaquin Merino-Marquez

Interim CEO, President and Director

Joaquín Merino was appointed Emerita's Chief Executive Officer in April 2026 and has continued to serve as President & Director since 2012. He is a senior professional geologist with over 28 years of experience in the mining industry, specializing in exploration and mining operations. Prior to joining Emerita, he held senior leadership roles including Vice President Exploration at Primero Mining Corp. and Apogee Minerals Ltd. and previously served as Exploration Manager for Placer Dome at the Porgera Mine, and as Mine Geologist at Hecla Mining's La Camorra Mine.

His international experience spans across the Americas, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific regions. Currently based in Spain, he is leading the advancement of the IBW Project, while simultaneously pursuing continued business opportunities, and engaging in effective community relations and constructive stakeholder dialogue.

Mr. Merino is a member of the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario. He holds an MSc from Queen's University and a BSc in Geology from the University of Seville, Spain.

Ian Parkinson has spent the past 16 years as a sell-side mining analyst for several leading brokerage firms on Bay Street including Stifel GMP, GMP Securities and CIBC World Markets. He joined the analyst community after a successful 10-year career in industry with Falconbridge and Noranda. During Parkinson's time in industry he worked on a wide range of exploration, development and commercial interests, which include the Craig and Onaping depth discovery, Raglan mine, Lady Loretta and business development for the zinc business unit at Noranda. He built on his geology base with experience in metals trading, metal marketing and business development at the corporate level. Mr. Parkinson is an earth science graduate of Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario, where he was born and raised in a mining family.

Ian Fodie has over 35 years of experience in high growth industries, including biotechnology, life-sciences, technology, exploration and development, and entertainment, with international activities focused on intangible and real properties. Mr. Fodie has a track record of identifying and improving profitability and operational sustainability, with more than 25 years of public company experience. Mr. Fodie is recognized for his reputation of integrity by bankers, investment groups, shareholders, and boards. In addition to providing financial advisory services, he is currently acting as CFO for Allarta Life Science Inc., Pike Therapeutics Inc., and Metabolomic Technologies Inc., and has previously served as CFO for THinK Best Practice Inc., Tokens.com Corp., Rapid Dose Therapeutics Inc., Green Growth Brands Inc., and Longview Capital Partners Inc., in addition to a number of junior resource-based and public entertainment companies. Mr. Fodie has also served as Corporate Secretary and an Independent Director on public and private companies, bringing his focus on good corporate governance. He obtained his Bachelor of Commerce at Otago University in New Zealand; received his designation as a Chartered Accountant (New Zealand) in 1987; and has resided in Canada since 1989.
